The Eclectic Yard Illulian by
Paula Cademartori
In 2021, Paula Cademartori brought her unmistakable visual language into the world of interiors with The Eclectic Yard, a vibrant rug collection created for Illulian, her first collaboration with the brand. Hand-knotted in Himalayan wool and natural silk, each piece celebrates her colorful “Universe of Paula,” where flora, organic shapes, and bold geometries collide in a playful yet refined harmony. Hyper-decorative textures and unexpected chromatic combinations translate her eclectic vision into tactile form, transforming rugs into expressive design statements. The floral motifs featured throughout the collection draw inspiration from the flowers that appeared in the bag designs of her eponymous fashion brand, extending a recognizable element of her creative language into the realm of interiors.
“Each piece of this collection was conceived not merely as a furnishing accessory but as an iconic design object, almost a work of art that transcends styles, trends, and personal tastes. Rather than being confined to the floor, they can also be displayed on walls, inviting a more expressive and unconventional interpretation of their role within a space.”
Inspired by the dreamy atmosphere of a 1950s Californian yard, the collection unfolds across four distinct styles, each available in multiple color variations and in two sizes: a smaller version and larger one, finished with fringes. Nostalgic charm is reimagined through a distinctly contemporary lens: lush floral motifs, dynamic compositions, and luminous palettes create immersive, character-rich spaces that blur the boundaries between art, design, and lifestyle.
Part of Illulian’s most exclusive Limited Edition series, The Eclectic Yard embodies a creative dialogue across disciplines, where architecture, fashion, and visual arts converge into objects of desire for a new generation of design lovers.

Eclectic Florem Small
The Eclectic Yard
Illulian by Paula Cademartori
At the heart of the rug blooms an imaginary flower, an explosion of colors, petals, and unexpected shapes. It is not inspired by any existing species, but rather by a dreamlike botanical world where tulips merge with artichokes and familiar forms transform into something entirely new. The rug itself is defined by a playful geometric silhouette where triangles and rectangles come together in an unconventional composition, creating a castle-like structure that frames and shelters the vibrant floral centerpiece. This contrast between architectural geometry and organic exuberance gives the design its unique character.

Eclectic Florem Large
The Eclectic Yard
Illulian by Paula Cademartori
The larger version of the Eclectic Florem Rug maintains the same aesthetic language and proportions as the smaller design, but it is finished with fringes that introduce a subtle contrast to the rug’s rich color palette, adding movement, texture, and a handcrafted character to the piece. Like the smaller version, the Eclectic Florem Big Rug incorporates a salt-and-pepper effect, a distinctive melange appearance achieved by weaving together light and dark yarns.

Floralia Yard Small
The Eclectic Yard
Illulian by Paula Cademartori
This rug reinterprets one of the signature intarsia motifs featured in a Paula Cademartori bag, transforming it into a piece that balances structure and fluidity. The original geometric pattern is placed within a softer, more organic frame, shaped by flowing curves that evoke waves and a sense of romance. The design explores the dialogue between graphic precision and natural forms. Stripes appear as subtle accents throughout the composition and are echoed in the flower’s stem, creating a distinctive contrast that adds rhythm to the overall design.

Floralia Yard Big
The Eclectic Yard
Illulian by Paula Cademartori
The larger version of Floralia Yard introduces fringes, as in the rest of the Eclectic Yard collection, adding texture and creating an additional layer of visual contrast that frames the composition with a handcrafted feel. These two versions interpret the same design language in distinct ways: one feels more playful and feminine, while the other one is more grounded, featuring classic tonalities designed for more traditional or refined interiors.

Habitus Garden Small
The Eclectic Yard
Illulian by Paula Cademartori
A layered composition that merges architectural memory with a lush floral imagination, this rug draws inspiration from the atmosphere of hotel pools, combining the vibrant energy of a Miami setting with the timeless elegance of a Spanish courtyard. Rather than focusing on a single motif, the design unfolds as a dense floral pattern composed of multiple blossoms and organic elements, creating the sensation of walking through an open garden.

Habitus Garden Large
The Eclectic Yard
Illulian by Paula Cademartori
In this larger scale interpretation, the architectural outline gains beige fringes across both color combinations, adding a tactile and material dimension that softens the geometry while introducing warmth and texture. These fringes act as a subtle transition between the structured frame and the more expressive floral interior, enhancing the handcrafted quality of the piece.

Multifarious Flora Small
The Eclectic Yard
Illulian by Paula Cademartori
This is another rug that emerges from the memory of a swimming pool and the architectural detail of a building, translating these references into a layered, imagined landscape. At its core, the design brings together two imaginary flowers that face each other, as if in silent dialogue, observing, admiring, and completing one another. They function as opposites that, through contrast, generate a single unified form. The composition is defined by a contour that aspires to become a new kind of geometry, neither fully rigid nor entirely organic.

Multifarious Flora Large
The Eclectic Yard
Illulian by Paula Cademartori
In this larger composition, the balance between rounded points and sharper, thorn-like accents becomes even more visible, reinforcing the idea that nature is inherently imperfect, and that it is precisely this imperfection that gives it its sense of wholeness and harmony. The two imaginary flowers remain in dialogue, but at a larger scale their relationship feels more immersive and architectural. The fringes frame the entire piece, acting as a soft architectural boundary that contains and enhances the composition.
