À la Mode
Kartell by Paula Cademartori
This collaboration between Kartell and Paula Cademartori marked a vibrant meeting point between Italian design heritage and a bold, tropical sensibility. For Spring/Summer 2017, the designer, known for her Italian-Brazilian roots and distinctive aesthetic, brought her signature use of colour, irony, and meticulous detailing into Kartell’s “à la mode” universe, the division dedicated to fashion-driven projects. The partnership reflected a shared vision grounded in experimentation, playfulness and a refined yet expressive approach to contemporary accessories.
“This collaboration with Kartell was deeply inspired by Brazil, drawing on the graphic rhythm of Ipanema’s iconic promenade and my personal approach to beach dressing.”
The collection, inspired by the lush landscapes of the Jardim Botânico do Rio de Janeiro, featured the Claudia sandals and the Parati handbag, both defined by vivid hues and a distinctly tropical mood, available in four variations. Floral elements, orchids, peonies, and bromeliads, translate into three-dimensional details and prints, while playful motifs such as intertwined hands forming a heart reinforce a sense of femininity and universal love. Materials like injected plastic are reimagined through woven textures and bold colour combinations, balancing innovation with decorative richness.

RINASCENTE
Kartell à la mode by Paula Cademartori
In October 2016, the collection was unveiled through a special pop-up installation at La Rinascente as part of the “Enjoy The Front Row” initiative. The space was transformed into a lush tropical forest, immersing visitors in the collection’s vibrant world through oversized plants and saturated tones that echoed its inspiration. Presented to international press and buyers, the activation not only showcased the products but also captured the spirit of the collaboration, joyful, immersive, and unapologetically expressive.
