Madame Chair
Kartell by
Paula Cademartori

In 2017, during Milan Design Week, Paula Cademartori reinterpreted the iconic Madame chair by Philippe Starck for Kartell, presenting the special edition Madame Paula. The project marked a new chapter in her collaboration with the brand, brought to life through the vibrant “Magic” print, an imaginative multicolor composition where nouveau-inspired petals, exotic birds, jeweled hands, hearts, stars, and bows intertwined in a dreamy, visionary narrative.

For Milan Design Week, Philippe Starck’s iconic Madame chair for Kartell became the canvas for one of my signature prints, Magic, a vibrant composition combining Art Nouveau-inspired petals, exotic birds, jewelled hands, hearts, stars and scalloped bows. The result was a playful yet distinctive piece that translates my visual language into the world of contemporary design.”

The chair was unveiled at Paula Cademartori’s Pop-Up store in Milan, a space curated by architect Ferruccio Laviani. Reflecting her signature use of bold color, playful details, and refined craftsmanship, the store embodied the designer’s aesthetic while hosting a curated capsule of handbags, footwear, and small leather goods. The Madame Paula limited edition was available exclusively at the Pop-Up and online, reinforcing the brand’s dialogue between fashion and design through a collectible, one-of-a-kind piece.
